Introspective and Commentary-Heavy Lyrics Makes the Difference From Pure Flexing

Let’s talk about differentiating between flexing and having more substance as someone having to rap.

I made a verse to a beat:

Hip Hop got legal

Only problem’s too many bar exams.

Helped auntie move her Auderman.

She must’ve been a “..Carter..” fan.

They saying you only care after a tune in with the lyrics.

I go deeper to reach the spirit.

My social proof might be a Urus.

Let’s look further into the issue that’s been a divider in hip hop culture lately.

What separates a rapper who raps about purely flexing and one that provokes more thought?

Being able to add introspection to your perspective and having the ability to include additional commentary are 2 of the stand out qualities that helps separate and distinguish yourself from rappers that only care about flexing.

Adding Introspection to Your Perspective

Introspection is one of the key ingredients that separates a stereotypical rapper who only cares to flex.

Being introspective takes a level of critical thinking that many tend to neglect.

It forces you to inspire a deeper layer into what’s really going on.

The groups that this element is constantly associated with are activists and scientists most of the time.

Being Commentary Heavy with your narrative

Being able to comment on the things that you already said is a great ability that’ll allow you to expand on points that only appear topical.

Authenticity vs. Performance

Having such a deeper layer to what you bring when speaking ends up boiling down to being authentic, and in many cases it’s against performance based artists.

Final Thoughts

Being more introspective during my creative process and having this ability to commentate even more on what I already said lets me know that I’m separated from rappers that solely rap about flexing.
