A majority of my media projects that helped build the confidence to create my lean platform was learned in high school. They consisted of:
- Launching a website from writing codes
- Creating parody songs, (and highlight videos) and skits with my best friend
- Making podcasts with friends and family (screen and audio recording video games)
- Completing music videos
Launching websites from coding
One of my classes that I took in high school involved learning how to create a website page from coding in HTML format.
Adobe Java I believe is what it’s called. But anyways, we had projects that called for creating our own website with the assistance of this program.
Creating songs in parody form
You ever created a song before? Well I made parodies! In song form.
Hate for example. That was a song off Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 album that my friend and I really enjoyed. We weren’t at the point where we were making our own original music, so what we would do is create parodies of songs we like. We would copy the flow and cadence of the song and create our own song as a result. That took having to get familiar with computer programs and collaborating with laying down verses for the song to be completed.
Making Podcasts with friends
Another media project that I took part in was making a podcast with a few of my friends and family at the time.
There was a project that I was able to intern with where I would assist one of my family members with doing a screen capture of video games we’d agree on picking and play while recording reactions to the outcomes of these games.
I saw it as a media project that contributed to my confidence with having internet platform success because I was fortunate enough to have the picture painted for me as to what the podcast could be. I could even say that it was my introduction to the industry. It just wasn’t my own original idea, so it didn’t feel fully my own. Regardless, this was yet another project that I got to have a hand in and it definitely contributed to my confidence with doing something digital on my own.
Completing Music Videos
There’s a project I had to complete in high school while taking a class called Power Skills, and in it we had an assignment in where we had to create a simple video that was full of pictures to compliment a song of our choice.
