I wanna talk about when Sonic first started showing signs of Dragon Ball Z like influence.
When did Sonic first show signs of DBZ-like influence?
For me it was when I noticed the similarity in Super Forms for 2 of the strongest characters. It would go on to have the same number of items that were known as the most powerful in their respective universe. The Chaos Emeralds and Dragon Balls.
Super Sonic and Super Saiyan
Super Sonic and Super Saiyan were the first two comparisons between the series that I immediately noticed. Let’s break down the literal similarities of the forms. They’re golden and raised the power of both of them when activated. They both can fly when they activate these forms which usually happens in combat or right before it.
The Chaos Emeralds and Dragon Balls
Next point we got about this combined Sonic and DBZ topic is their similarity with powerful items that’s considered the source of ultimate power materialistically speaking. It takes 7 Chaos Emeralds to unleash the Aliens similar to Sonic’s power. Things get slightly different but still highly coincidental when you look at the Dragon Balls being understood to be the ultimate source of power for getting your any wish granted. It might not be too much to it, but it’s still interesting to me in acknowledging how they all have to be collected and brought together for the full effect.
