I’ll be explaining why a blog isn’t a reliable source.
Why is a Blog Not a Reliable Source?
Blogs aren’t usually peer-reviewed. What that means is there’s not many if any people that critique and hold the author accountable. That’s not to say there aren’t any that’s credible. But there’s just not many blog owners that’s willing to consume other bloggers’ content.
The purpose of a blog

I’m sure there’s someone asking about the point of a blog if they’re generally considered unreliable.
And I’ll add there’s purpose.
For many there’s therapeutic effects from getting whatever’s on your mind off.
It could easily be argued as just being social media without much restriction.
- No character limit
- Less terms of service agreements to follow
- Media galore
With those features there’s minimal regulation which opens the door for criticizing credibility.
There’s still incredible writers you can find that have blogs.
And their skill that should be appreciated or criticized is in their ability to write well.
The reliability aspect starts coming more into account when you reach a commercial status.
Anything other than that is generally safe to assume has more lies than truth involved.
Benefits of Peer Reviews
Peer reviews are commonly seen as the double check that most voices on the internet could desperately use.
It lets everyone stay accountable on what gets written.
It’s more than just getting an immediate benefit.
It also develops lifelong skills that pay off when it’s time to assess a body of work.
You’ll be able to give feedback and auto-correct yourself in a way.
In totality it’s presenting your work with putting your best foot forward.

And some won’t even promote their content.
What makes a bad blog post?
A bad blog post is one that’s too confusing to understand.
If your audience doesn’t know what they’re supposed to be getting from you then you failed.
It’s that or having a boring title.
What are the 4 pillars of blogging?
- Create Content.
- Find Readers.
- Build Community.
- Make Money
Those are the main purposes for most blogs. There’s a misconception on thinking that a blog can’t be monetized. I personally think any time spent online where you share media of any kind should be in pursuit of money. Anything other than that is a waste of time. It gets hazy with having people who have influence actually encourage the masses to prioritize the wrong things. One of my favorite to expose is clout.
