How does the transfer portal work? (Answered)

I’ll be explaining how the transfer portal works.

How does the transfer portal work?

The transfer portal communicates to schools you plan on transferring to. If you do everything that you need to do then the rest is on the compliance office to approve the transfer within 2 days of you submitting your info. Other than wrestling I’ve seen it be a hot topic with college football lately. As good as it’s meant to be for people that want to change up their career plans it tends to have consequences for using it at times.

Why would an athlete enter the transfer portal?

An athlete would enter the transfer portal because it aligns best by NCAA standards with the cooperation process between their current school and the new one.

There’s also the greatest benefit in being allowed to network with the coaches that are interested in having an athlete part of their program.

Why is the transfer portal used so much in college football?

What are the downsides to the transfer portal?

Final thoughts

Here’s how the transfer portal works again:

  • Communicates to your current and potential new schools you’re interested in transferring
  • Allows athletes to network with new coaches until they pick the program to pursue
  • The current school’s compliance office has 2 days to approve the request to transfer

We’ll also find that there’s potential consequences to choosing the transfer portal as an athlete.

Here’s a clip that might even explain better for anyone that didn’t like the way I broke it down:
