I’ll be explaining what the Final Destination movies are about.
What are the Final Destination movies about?
They’re a twist between horror and thriller in where the antagonist is literally death.
Each film follows a group of people that have certain ties to each other.
One person’s able to see a mass homicide before they occur in the form of a vision.
The twist is they only see it once and tries to “cheat” death.
They attempt to do it by acting off clues on how the murders would happen.
Final Destination 1
I count Final Destination as a perfect blend of horror and thriller.
Horrors typically have an aggressive antagonist that’s hunting down a cast.
Thrillers keep you on the edge of your seat with trying to anticipate what’s gonna happen next.
You get that both with this film.
It could be argued that it first starts off as a thriller.
It’s because after an opening horrific scenario in the film we try to figure out what’s next.
We go on to see that there’s not a tangible figure to blame after our experience.
Because of that we get a case where our first likable character is fighting for his reputation.
A fight to show their innocence.
We go on to see that the deaths occurring are intentional and it makes this film’s villain Death.
That brings us to where we understand that our cast is essentially trying to ‘beat’ death.
It’s a premise that was and still is ahead of its time.
