Why dehydrated products have higher price? (Explained)

I’ll be explaining why dehydrated products have such high prices.

It’s not something that’s terribly obvious unless you’re someone that regularly gets products in this category.

These are seen as healthy foods so I figured why not talk about it.

Here we go.

Why dehydrated products have higher price?

Dehydrated products have high prices because of labor-intensive harvesting. It’s also pretty expensive to dehydrate the foods that go through the process. This dehydration goes beyond simple products such as dried fruits and things alike. Matter fact! This explains why freezer dried meals are expensive. I haven’t directly felt the impact of this scenario but it reminds me of stories my friends had living in areas where food was imported.

What type of labor goes into dehydrating food?

The first traces of food that was dehydrated involved a machine that had to be set at a certain temperature then pressed and sealed.

Ever since that method was discovered it led to numerous other ways to dehydrate your food.

When food gets dehydrated it loses anywhere from 5-8% of its nutrients.

What is the cheapest way to dehydrate food?

An actual Dehydrator would be the proper outlet.

However another option is using a traditional oven.

There’s over several leaders in this industry that recommend using a regular oven for the same effects.

What makes imported food expensive?

Imported food becomes more expensive because of:

  • Quality
  • Reduced costs
  • Energy efficiency
  • More choices
  • Economic growth

One area that seems to get hit most when it comes to effects of imported food is Vietnam.
