Why do fighters trash talk?

I think fighters trash talk for these reasons most likely:

  • Their group gassed them up to believe they’re in a position to do so
  • They genuinely believe the things they’re saying
  • To add more buildup for the next event
  • Saving some embarrassment on a bad performance potentially
