Why do you want to be a filmmaker? (My interest)

I’m starting a discussion on why someone would want to be a filmmaker.

Why do you want to be a filmmaker?

This isn’t a personal interest of my mine but I’ve had friends pursue this goal.

Consider this an open discussion. These are the benefits that’s clear to me about filmmaking so far:

  • Provides a creative outlet
  • Most media can be shown through this channel

And same as other forms of art it can display emotions and opinions effectively. Other than that I’d like to get more personal explanations for why someone would want to be a filmmaker.
