My favorite things to cook

What’s your favorite thing to cook?

Stir fry to be honest, nothing overly extravagant.

I’m a huge veggie fanatic so I’d load my bowl up with the following:

  • Bell peppers
  • Mushrooms
  • Onions
  • Zucchini
  • Carrots

I’m sure I’m missing something extra but that’s a good majority of everything I would put in my bowl.

Why is vegetable stir fry healthy?

For starters, there’s a tremendous benefit to a veggie heavy regimen.

A few of my favorite benefits are:

  • Tender-crisp vegetables
  • Retains nutrients better than if boiled
  • Low in calories/high in fiber

They’re seriously one of my favorite meals to make all throughout the week.

If you have goals of maintaining a specific weight (or even lose some) while having a tasty meal that can be customized then it’s my go-to.

Why is stir-frying healthier than deep frying?

Stir-fry’s healthier than deep frying for a variety of reasons.

For starters there’s a significantly lower amount of oil used with stir fry dishes in comparison to deep frying.

Most stir fry meals are made using a hot wok of some sort and possibly the most important difference is what was mentioned earlier.

Stir fry simply coats the food with oil while deep fried is submerged and meant to get much hotter.

If you’re looking for the best oil to use for vegetables then you’ll wanna go with coconut oil.

And for deep-frying it’ll be best to go with a peanut oil or even beef tallow.

There’s a few misconceptions that come with oils that I should address.

If you come across these claims they’re not true (at least in entirety):

  • Fat’s bad for you
  • Saturated fats are bad too
  • Olive oil’s good for cooking

I love stir fry!! I agree with you that it’s much healthier than eating something deep fried. Do you also like to add rice or noodles to a stir fry dish? Recently, I like adding Pho noodles 🙂

That’s so cool the feeling’s mutual! I actually bounce back and forth between the two but I’m mainly using rice. The next time I make some I’ll have to try it with Pho noodles though 😃
