This is gonna cover all things related to Dragon Ball.
Yes, that includes Dragon Ball Z, GT, Super and now Daima!
This was inspired from my previous post on my favorite anime series and I decided to do a follow up.
I later came back to the original but trust me when I say it’s just as entertaining as the others, especially when you get to like the characters that make the show.
Now you may want to know if the series go in order, and if you continue to read on them you’ll get the answer.
Without any more words to waste let’s move on.
Is Dragon Ball the first one?
Dragon Ball is the first original story in the series and goes straight on into Dragon Ball Z.
It took me some time to figure out but DBZ is the continuation of Dragon Ball.
The Dragon Ball series first aired in 1986 and eventually branches off into numerous spin-offs from the original.
In between all of the series there were a set of movies in place as well that helped separate the shift in story for each title.
Can I skip the first Dragon Ball?
Yes you can skip the first Dragon Ball series and I say that because it’s how I did it.
The story itself actually functions by itself pretty well in telling a separate story from DBZ even though they’re connected.
I still recommend that you watch the original if you’re the type who wants to know everything that’s going on exactly.
There’s small details that you may want to know such as how Goku was championed as the strongest fighter in the world at the start of Z but that’s about it.
What is the difference between Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z?
The main difference between the 2 is seeing Goku during his beginnings as a father.
So at this point he has a son and we learn more about his Saiyan heritage in Z.

Another big difference in the shows that I noticed was the use of the actual dragon balls in order to move the story forward.
Are all Dragon Ball series connected?
You might get a few different answers if you’re trying to find out if all the dragon ball series are connected, but yes, they all are.
After the continuation of over 30 years of episodes it’s gone on to produce a pretty wacky story to say the least.
There’s guides that you can find which suggests how to watch them but I’ll keep it simple.
If you want to know everything that happens then watch all of the episodes, there’s only a few series that are non-canon so they’re optional in comparison.
Final thoughts
Dragon Ball is an incredible series with plenty of variety when it comes to storytelling.
There’s plenty of directions you can take it but there’s always going to be that itch to understand the original you’ll have until you satisfy it.
The choice is yours when it comes to how you choose to consume the show but you have options.
