Why was Buu really dropped from Tournament of Power?(4 reasons Explained)

I’ll be talking about why Majin Buu was dropped in the Tournament of Power.

I’m talking about the Majin Saga of course.

The tournament of power however was first introduced in Dragon Ball Super.

This is where we got a first look into multiple fighters from different universes.

I’m talking about Kefla, Kabba, Toppo and even Jiren.

This arc specifically was a defining moment in terms of meeting new characters and even witnessing new transformations.

Why was Buu really dropped from Tournament of Power?

Ultimately Buu wasn’t a good fit for the tournament of power because he wasn’t able to help defend Universe 7.

But as far as a concrete reason it’s that he failed the written test.

There’s plenty of fans that would agree with me when I say Buu isn’t smart enough to hang.

And that actually explains from a writing standpoint when considering him being written out was Fan-service

Majin Boo

Majin Boo is the demon king that Goku and the other Z warriors had to fight.

Kid Buu is actually the last form of Buu that we see at the end of Z.

This section really captured how much of a threat Buu posed to the universe.

Majin Buu’s impact on Universe 7

I personally think that every fighter in universe 7 would’ve got in the way that didn’t train with Whis and Beerus at the time.

Why wouldn’t everybody from universe 7 train with whis and beerus?

Beerus alone is one of the strongest fighters ever created in the series.

If we skip ahead to who he ends up training personally Broly ends up being the only other fighter who’s worthy.

Him and Gohan.

That fact alone should explain the standard a God of Destruction would have when it comes to training powerful fighters.

By that logic Buu wouldn’t make the cut.

Tournament of Power FAQs

How is Majin Buu still alive in Dragon Ball Super?

Majin Buu is still alive because Babidi made it his goal to revive him.

After Buu was birthed and eventually spawned Kid Buu it led to him being killed but left the first form of Buu.

This causes fans to think Majin Buu might be immortal and wonder if the other forms are alive somewhere too.

To shorten things up a little I’ll point out the points that address the question directly.

First is Buu’s skill set not complimenting the competitiveness of the tournament.

He has too many chances that he can regenerate without using any stamina.

He’s just too overpowered.

The next is Buu’s absence adds to the tension given the stakes.

With all of those abilities Buu had Team 7 still didn’t.

That made the chances of losing even more possible.

And lastly is Frieza was who needed to join the team.

The fans made a demand and it happened.

It worked out better as the story continues and shows that Frieza has more involvement.

Who replaced Majin Buu in the tournament?

It was Frieza.

That was a move that the fans wanted and served as a solid replacement to a character with O.P. abilities in the show.

It’s a better call to go with him over Tien.

If anyone that could push Goku the same way Buu can it would be Frieza.

Final thoughts

If you were wondering why wasn’t Buu in the tournament of power it’s because he slept through the exam.

Sleeping through it meant he failed.

Why is Yamcha not in the Tournament of Power?

Despite being healthy Yamcha retired from fighting after the Cell Games.

The only fighter close to that tier who barely made the team was Krillin.

Because Yamcha still has a fan base it’s worth asking.
