I’ll be talking about hobbies that you could consider picking up if you’re in your 20s.

I had a birthday recently.

I turned 29 and was grateful to realize I already went through my quarter life crisis so it’s only up from here.

When I took the opportunity to celebrate the topic of hobbies seemed to find me at every turn so I decided to make this post.

Because I’m still in my 20s (even though I feel I’m an old soul that’s another discussion) I wanted to speak directly to my peers.

So here we go.

Hobbies to pick up in your 20s

There’s hobbies that can do the following:

  • Make you smarter
  • Make you interesting
  • Evolve your mindset
  • Keep you creative
  • Make you money

After having a birthday recently I spent it in a way that was out of the norm but it reminded me of so many hobbies that I could consider.

What hobbies make you smarter

I like to refer to these as intelligent hobbies.

That means it takes a certain level of intelligence to truly appreciate them.

Learning a new instrument

Learning musical instruments provides numerous benefits.

From the lifelong enjoyment you’ll receive from actively creating beautiful sounds.

You’ll always be learning (which keeps playing an instrument fresh and new).

There’s plenty of options in terms of instruments that you can learn to play.

From there you’ll also get the chance to meet others that are learning to play and possibly collaborate with them at some point.

Undeniably you’ll be more creative learning to play and even reduce stress along the way.

Knitting

The most knitting I’ve done myself only happened in art class most likely.

The art to knitting seems like it can get deep, especially when you look at all of the creative pieces real knitters know how to make.

Exercising

Exercising and fitness in general make you smarter because of the research it usually takes to improve in that focus.

Sure you can take the route of using dietary supplements.

There’s some great ones out there, the one that’s been getting the most buzz lately is Liv Pure.

Reading

Reading is another obvious hobby that you should know makes you smarter.

It’s easy to get started and grow in that hobby with the assistance of book clubs.

Those and other similar groups will provide the same benefits.

Meditation practices

Unapologetically I can say that I’m familiar with meditation practices.

Learning a new language

There’s nothing like saying you want to get smarter when you choose to learn another language.

Gardening

I’m grateful to have experienced moments in my change of careers where gardening was a common meeting ground amongst my associates.

Video games groups

If you’re the type that subscribes to the idea that playing video games makes you smarter then here’s something for you; gaming groups.

What hobbies make you interesting

Photography

Photography’s getting increasingly popular with the advancement of media of all sorts.

There’s something attractive about a photographer that can capture a special moment with a camera.

Traveling

There’s more to traveling than just buying travel accessories.

Well maybe that’s the expanded view of what goes into it but the essence that makes it so interesting are:

  • Experiencing new places
  • Trying new things
  • Meeting new people

Writing

Writing is one of the most appreciated hobbies since the beginning of time.

What hobbies evolve your mindset

Dancing

Dancing is an effective compliment to music in general.

They go hand in hand with the one matching the effectiveness of the other.

Creating with your hands

Creating with your hands is always a good plan.

Traditional crafts always remain relevant in my book.

Volunteering

One of the best demonstrations of proving your level of being interesting is dependent on how interested you are in others.

Playing sports

The world loves sports, simple as that.

It’s clear in my raps.

In my earlier work I referenced it a lot and had the highest level of feedback with my bars that included my favorites.

What hobbies make you creative?

Painting/Drawing

Have you noticed that painting parties grew increasingly popular, especially since the pandemic hit in 2020.

DIY crafts

With arts and crafts being virtually limitless in terms of the type of canvases you can use, colors too and common items made.

Pottery/Sculpting

I immediately think about this movie that was popular in the late 1900s.

I forgot the original name but it’s been used in plenty of parody projects.

Family Guy, Robot Chicken, the list goes on and excuse the heavy references of Adult Swim popular shows at the time.

What hobbies can make money

Cooking

We all gotta eat right?

It makes sense that since food will always be bought that it’s also going to be an option to put money in your pocket as well.

Music

Commercialized music will always be a business and like any authentic business there’s numerous ways to make money with it.

I’ve made posts like can I sell song lyrics online and others alike.

Comedy

Comedy’s one of the highest paid hobbies that’s also a business at the same time with a universal audience across the world.

Conclusion

There’s plenty of upgrades you can make in your life based on the type of hobby you choose.

Let’s revisit the improvements you can make based on your picked hobby:

  • Make you smarter
  • Make you interesting
  • Evolve your mindset
  • Keep you creative
  • Make you money
