I’ll be answering why Chucky’s obsessed with Andy.
Let’s get to the question.
Why Is Chucky Obsessed With Andy
Chucky wanted to to transfer his soul into Andy Barclay and become a real boy.
He earned a new victim in Andy after threatening to kill him if he told anyone where he did to Eddie Caputo.
Since the first movie all the way until the end of Seed Chucky’s goal was to gain a new body.
It was only until the end of Child’s Play 3 where Chucky changes his mind about needing Andy any longer.
Chucky stalked him after his mother bought him a Good Guy doll for his birthday.
(Spoiler) Why does Chucky want to kill Andy?
Chucky doesn’t need Andy’s body anymore.
At first he did since he revealed his secret of really being Charles Lee Ray to him.
He changed his plans after finding a different vessel in Tyler once we reach the 3rd film:
Child’s Play 3
Having the Heart of Damballa became his new goal once we get to Bride of Chucky.
We discover it’s his needed tool to get back into a human’s body again. Fast forward however:
Eventually we get to where he wants to kill Andy from completion anxiety.
Andy’s relationship was actually all good at the beginning of the first movie.
There wasn’t any problem until one night Karen has to stay late at work and a babysitter is asked to watch Andy.
Once the babysitter’s death and a few other odd situations point to Andy is when he cuts ties with Chucky out of fear for his life.
This is when we see everybody else find out the truth about Chucky being a serial killer that Detective Norris thought he killed.
Andy Barclay
Andy Barclay is the son to Karen Barclay and becomes tied to Chucky the moment he discovered his secret.

At the start of Child’s Play we learn of Andy’s infatuation with Good Guy dolls.
Charles Lee Ray is another person we learn of at the beginning of the film and that he makes a mysterious chant in a pile of them.
We go on to learn that the doll Andy gets early on has more to it than what meets the eye.

It goes on to develop into a prime time television show with 3 seasons.
Why did Chucky need Andy?
Chucky needed Andy because he was the first person that he revealed his voodoo-powered body secret to.
He told Andy since the first Child’s Play and had the same goal until the beginning of Child’s Play 3.
Chucky has his plans continually get ruined and it’s not until Curse where we find out his goal isn’t to find another vessel.
Why did Chucky threaten to kill Andy?
He first threatened to kill Andy after he told him he killed Eddie Caputo.
Chucky in Child’s Play 2 was at his peak danger to Andy after he realized his body was really stuck in the doll.
This is the point where Chucky is completely fine with trying to kill Andy and Kyle.
When did Chucky stop wanting to be human again?
He only had one successful human-dolltransfer. All the way to Seed of Chucky showed how bad Chucky is at securing a body.
What made Chucky change his mind about Andy?
Chucky did make it clear that he could only gain his human body back after telling the first person he was a doll.
That person he told is Andy.
Because he ended up being flexible and started his scenario over again after he told Tyler in Child’s Play 3 it reset his life.
The same goal he had for Andy was then Tyler’s.
As usual though.
Chucky’s plans get ruined again.
Summary
Overall, Chucky and Andy started the entire Child’s Play franchise.
It’s been highly successful and popular with its fan base.
We’ve gotten a lot of new characters introduced with each movie that was released that followed through even to the tv show.
It’s funny cuz their relationship almost reminds me of something close to a Tom and Jerry type deal, except with more violence.
Although the torch seems to have been passed to Jake since Chucky the tv series came to be Andy will always be the pioneer that started it all.
