Jab Jab Jab Right Hook (book review)

I’ll be reviewing the book jab jab jab right hook.

In today’s social media age, it’s almost standard to have to know how to use the platforms available properly to succeed.

If you’re convinced that social media is the way to go then this book probably came up once or twice during tryout research.

Let’s break it down.

Jab Jab Jab Right Hook

This book was created by bestselling author and social media expert Gary Vaynerchuk.

He explains how to tell your story in an a social media dominated world. It’s one of the best ways to market and build a brand online.

Out of 5 stars it at least deserves 4 for the powerful takes on topics relating to building an online presence via social sites.

Telling Your Story

About

This book is made for anyone that has plans of building an audience and monetizing them with occasional asks for purchases.

The lessons you learn are different techniques that you can use to tell your story on any platform of choice.

Gary Vaynerchuk (the author) released this book in 2013 and has followed it up with more releases since then.

The basic premise of how this book will wire you to present ideas and eventually sales from an audience you built takes a good story.

It doesn’t have to be extravagant but it just has to be told in a way that your audience wants to hear it.

This book is important to get in tune with because of the guide-worthy list of lessons that it provides (to be followed) for a fast growing industry.

Takeaways

There’s plenty of takeaways from this book that can directly impact anyone who plans to bring their business to social media.

Key Points

  • The story is native
  • It’s told in an organic way
  • You’re not really selling
  • Leverages viral content
  • Small scale
  • Consistency / Awareness

Native Story

You’ll be telling your story while you use the different socials available on your preferred App Store in the way it’s users prefer.

The Organic Story

The book teaches you specific techniques that you can use to share whatever your product or service is in a way that’s less as a salesman, but more of a consumer.

Less Selling

You’re gonna notice the change in your results on social media in general when you see the story that your content tells.

It’ll be more of story filled with continuity rather than a page full of ads (for lack of better term).

Leveraging Viral Content

The method that’s suggested in effective storytelling on social media is through the process of using “stories” that’s trending on the platform.

Micro-Content

It’s also an important point of emphasis that the content on social media is meant to be a shorter form than traditional media.

Consistency / Self-Aware

Consistency in telling a story that’s self aware is another important part of growing a business’s story on any platform.

Effort

Your willingness to consistently post and make the effort to connect with your audience is what’s going to grow your business.

The thing you’re gonna have to do is learn your audience, study them and learn what they can relate to from you in a natural way.

It’s an instantly rewarded effort when you do what you can to grow your social because of how popular and active these platform’s users are.

Any social media presence can be helpful to growing the brand, it just comes down to what site you prefer.

The hard part’s taken care of in finding people who care about what you want to say.

Because these platforms put money into R&D for their sites, they already created algorithms to set you up in getting ears that’ll listen.

It’s the same concept in doing anything that’s worth doing, your best effort is all you can ask of yourself.

There’s never really a wrong story, you may just be telling it the wrong way.

Companies are media companies

Anybody that has something to offer another person will benefit from having something that effectively conveys a message.

That’s where media comes in to play.

A word of advice that’s added in this book is the fact that all companies have media that they can share with the right audience.

The goldmine with creating media that’s worth sharing is understanding the term and taking the opportunity to capture the best things about your business.

Media gets created in virtually any way you can think of it, one of the most popular are visuals but there’s more.

This should be great news for anybody that has what they believe is a good idea, because it can be showcased properly with an even better plan.

Best Quotes

I’ve mentioned earlier, but I’m gonna take the chance to mention Gary Vee’s most inspiring quotes that capture his mindset with this book.

He’s scaled small businesses into multi-million dollar corporations and helped others do the same.

His history in the (likely unplanned) social media consultation service and image as a social media guru’s been around since 2014.

He’s active on any major social network you can think of with the same message of using time effectively to “put in the work.”

Gary’s massively important to the digital entrepreneur space online and continues to show his high quality work ethic.

These are just a few of my favorite quotes by him because they capture the essence of what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur.

It’s a very self-driven career path that takes a lot of personal development in order to succeed, and he helps noobs bridge the gap.

Final Thoughts

I’m familiar with intentionally growing social media accounts for business related activities since I was promoting camps for wrestling.

  • The content that the book has is valuable
  • Plenty of takeaways that can be applied to any platform
  • Your effort works the tool known as social media
  • All companies are media ready
  • Gary Vee has numerous quotes you can refer to

It’ll probably take close to a book’s worth of content in multiple volumes to completely cover everything that’s discussed, but this book will touch on more than enough subjects related.
