Discipline is part of being a parent because tough-love at the right time becomes a factor that pays off well if done effectively. It’s coaching in essence, and you bring your ‘athlete’ to a point they haven’t experienced themself —only possible with demonstrating this quality.

Showing tough love when needed
Tough love is often misunderstood as being harsh or unkind, but in reality, it’s one of the most valuable forms of care when applied at the right moments.
It’s the willingness to hold someone accountable, even when it’s uncomfortable, because their growth depends on it.
I personally have moments when I think my life would’ve had more benefits earlier if I had been shown more tough love in my household growing up.
Sometimes we need firm boundaries or honest feedback to build resilience and discipline.
Shielding someone from every consequence may feel compassionate, but it can delay maturity and self-reliance.
Tough love, when balanced with genuine support, creates a foundation of strength.
It says, “I care about you too much to let you settle for less than you’re capable of.”
In the long run, those tough lessons often become the most appreciated.
