I’ll be sharing my opinion on what education I believe policemen need.
What education does a policeman need?
Police need a reinforcement on understanding when they can identify citizens.
They also need to do a better job in separating greed from service.
That includes using better discernment under pressure that’s applied legally.
And lastly is to keep civil matters more incognito with better judgement.
Identifying citizens
Police need to work on knowing when they can and cannot request IDs from individuals.
There’s been several situations that escalated from a misunderstanding on this issue.
Too often we see or read about officers that unlawfully arrest a citizen because of ignorance.
Some take advantage of the fact a civilian doesn’t know their rights.
Most times the person gets irate about this as they should and end up getting arrested.
Separating greed from service
Same way we built America on separating church from state.
There’s clear greed and ego that needs to be addressed some way when cops deal with the public.
Discernment under legal pressure
Another area of education that police could get better at is being able to work under pressure.
Specifically when there’s a lawful assembly and they trump up bogus reasons to detain civilians.
I’ve never personally seen this happen in person but I came across body cams that revealed it.
You can clearly see some officers can’t tune out the crowd and try taking control with discipline.
Keeping civil matters more player
This was actually funny to witness but it could hit home at some point.
When a servicing officer is trying to get to the bottom of a crime they might come across scandals.
Definitely some info that could wreck a home but could also maintain some privacy.
It’s a job I understand they’re trying to do but if officers take an extra step here it could pay off.
Really doing everything in their power to help everybody save face in the moment.
It may be much to request but it’s something I would love to see happen.
