Yeah.

There was a time I picked up a phone that was on the ground and it didn’t belong to me.

I held on to it and went on to the store.

It didn’t escalate to much because shortly after police showed up to my residence with the person it belonged to.

I didn’t speak directly with them or the owner but it got claimed and weeks later I discovered that there’s a crime labeled intent to steal.

There’s plenty of questions I would have for a more educated person on the topic but it was both a frustrating and eye opening experience.

But that’s the time I unintentionally broke the law.
