What books do you want to read? (My Personal Lists)

What books do you want to read?

I’ve came across advice that suggests you’re supposed to cycle among:

  • Classics
  • Books on interesting topics
  • Books by your favorite authors

My thoughts on classic books

The casual AI answer puts classic books as types that feel dated in language and style.

These are the type that typically explore universal human themes.

They offer deep insights into past societies and showcase effective writing techniques.

It makes them valuable reads despite having challenging obstacles in being able to access them.

When I reflect on the books my classmates had to do book reports on they were exactly that:

  • Frankenstein
  • The Adventures of Tom Sawyer
  • 1984
  • Animal Farm

Those are just a few and I’ll be honest in admitting that they weren’t reads I was interested at the time.

Where I’m at now in life I could see myself revisiting a few of those titles though.

And that’s only because I’ve had experiences that actually draw my curiosity to them.

Books on interesting topics

There’s plenty of books that I could share when it comes to this one.

I’ve come across a few people in life that shared books I was invested enough to actually buy:

  • Black Opportunity
  • Jab Jab Jab Right Hook
  • Richest Man in Babylon
  • How to Win Friends and Influence People

That’s just a quick list with a much larger amount I definitely left out but these are great starts.

I’m genuinely interested in books that talk about money and the mindset it takes to acquire or keep wealth.

That’s where I’m at in life so rightfully so those are books that I find interesting.

Books from your favorite authors

This is more of a pick your path situation.

You discover your favorite author by actually seeking certain knowledge.

This happens when you start to actually network and meet more ambitious people.

You’re bound to find a person that wrote a book you would read just off the strength of who wrote it.

I won’t burden you with piling on all of the authors I eventually found.

But I can tell you that finding them is easy.

It can be as simple as finding a podcast you like that engages in discussion on topics you’re interested in.

You grow to like the person and eventually they’ll share books they’re reading or were recommended to read.

That’s a great way to find authors you like.

It’s as simple as that.
