It’s a reward for staying in the top position. Being in the referee’s position is one of the least glamorous aspects of the sport. But if we remember what the goal of folkstyle wrestling is as having control then it proves to be consistent. Doesn’t matter as much in high school but in college it can be the difference between getting your hand raised or taking a loss.
