If you don’t know by now then I’ll start things off with letting you know I’m an American that was born and raised in the states.
My perspective on double standards might be different from what another country holds.
I’ve been to a family reunion this year and found out I have family members in Canada so this should be interesting internationally.
I pay my taxes same way anyone else that would call themselves an American would do.
But when it comes to double standards it’s reasonable to say context also matters.
Let’s put things in a sports perspective.
I prefer combat sports so pound-for-pound rankings are concepts I’m familiar with.
If I were looking to promote an event where the champion at one weight and they were set up to go against another it’s not cut and dry.
I’m not gonna assume that the male champ would have a good match against the female champ just because they’re the same weight.
Even if we keep it at the same gender.
The champ at the lightest weight won’t automatically have even a close match with a heavyweight.
It doesn’t matter how dominant the lightweight was or vice versa.
That’s where context matters.
If it doesn’t make sense upon further review then it’s useless ultimately.
It could be a lesson in accepting that there’s some things out of your control.
Let’s stick to the example and I’m having to explain to the other competitors we can’t do their matchup.
They might think nobody could beat them and they’re the best to ever participate but if they don’t accept biology’s rules it’s pointless.
There’s plenty of pseudo-arguments that could be made but at some point you have to meet someone where they’re at to get anywhere.
Think of a long-term game if it applies.
Not everybody thinks further down the line than you do.
Nothing wrong with it but that could be where the disconnect is happening.
Keep it on the sports example and apply it where things fit.
The event could be put on and fans might have a good evening but the league’s reputation could suffer.
So double standards could be irrelevant in the moment but further down the line it could be a lopsided deal.
We have a capitalistic lens when it comes to co-existing and with that you can figure out where a majority would stand on topics.
At least from America.
But we’re in a point of time where we look for more change than ever so it could be a different answer whenever.
Even though we will look to capitalize off a single situation we also prioritize democracy.
Giving whoever a fair trial.
Keeping things in perspective.
AKA context matters.

Can you believe I was able to address such a detailed and thought provoking question simply off lyrics I created myself?
