It’s AJ, and this is my commercialized blog site, where I can share my lifestyle interests and provide thoughtful insights on topics worth discussing.

I’ll discussing what it means to have a strong sense of community.

There’s plenty of pride that’s associated with the word and what it stands for at first glance.

That’s not a bad thing necessarily.

It could be a defining trait for a city or team.

This quality is something that seemed to have come natural to me at an early age but it doesn’t hurt revisiting.

So without adding anymore extra unnecessary details – let’s move forward on to the question

What does it mean to have a strong sense of community?

A strong sense of community means having a feeling of belonging. You feel as if you matter and share that purpose with the members of your group.

That feeling of belonging

One of the best ways to have someone feel they’re part of what you have going on is sharing food you like mutually.

There was a point in time where I felt neglected of this feeling and it led to fights throughout the year.

Things would’ve been different if I put in more effort towards having the leaders of their group work effectively with me.

Sometimes the difference was only making sure that everybody has an active role in the building process.

You might not even like the work ethic they present or anything dealing with the bigger picture but a real leader makes it work.

And sometimes it’s not even that deep.

You might just need to work on being self aware and own the jacket you’re known for wearing so to say.

Final thoughts

Here’s what it means to have a strong sense of community again:

  • Feeling you belong
  • You matter
  • Sharing a purpose with the other members of your group

This is something I felt most growing up in my early school years and not until recently started getting it back.

It’s a great feeling and shouldn’t be something taken for granted.
