The reason I make the claim of you should turn something into a challenge if you wanna add more importance is simple:
Everybody wants competition in one way or another
The world loves sports and enjoys watching athletes be compared among others in skills we agree to care about.
Observe how we as a culture tend to champion the people that compete in sports we care about.
Depending on the sport we might find the leaders get the following:
- earn ridiculously high paying contracts
- invitations to parties and events most would only dream of attending
- Complimentary gear
- brand partnerships
That’s only to name a few too.
Take it from someone who got to compete in a sport they loved with everything they got that’s willing to share.
I’ve been put situations and even got to witness others get treatment that alone would attract somebody to at least watch.
It works effectively for growing a campaign is what I find too.
Let’s back the lens up a bit to where someone who might’ve never competed in sports could get too.
If you’re the type to enjoy working on a high paced team then join a sales team.
Doesn’t matter what the company is – a sales team will always be competitive
Companies expand and look for ways to add more into their program.
They still want their leaders to strive to be the best they can though.
So the best way to keep everybody engaged is commercializing the process.
The importance comes from recognizing and praising whoever is performing at a level that’s considered impressive.
Some call it clout.
