Here’s where you can find out why the pursuit of perfection leads to stagnation.
Why The Pursuit of Perfection Leads To Stagnation
- It isn’t possible
- It’s not authentic
- It holds you back and keep you stuck
- It’s not a healthy mindset
Perfection isn’t possible
Perfection isn’t possible because there’s not a single person on earth who is.
It’s only an illusion that could best be described as a mirage.
There’s not a single piece of work available in this world that’s undeniably considered perfect.
When you choose to chase perfection it doesn’t allow room for error and suggests there’s no longer an area of growth.
Perfection isn’t authentic
Perfection isn’t authentic because it isn’t inviting.
It suggests that it’s the best way you can do something and there’s no other way to do it.
Authenticity should be the goal over perfectionism because it’s a display in its purest state.
Being authentic shows that you had nothing in mind except completing the goal while also showing possible mistakes.
It holds you back and keeps you stuck
Perfectionism holds you back and keeps you stuck because it chases a high that you will never find.
It’s much more common to make mistakes and showing vulnerability than it does to chase perfection to keep it simple.
A mentor of mine called this phenomenon “analysis paralysis”
It’s not a healthy mindset
Chasing perfectionism isn’t a healthy mindset to stay in.
It demands unreasonable expectations and that’s where it damages mentally.
Your mind wants it to make sense and solve the puzzle of whatever it is you’re working on.
Let’s keep the concept simple and parallel it to sports.
Making mistakes keeps everybody on the team with work to do.
The important aspect of it is acknowledgement.
If you don’t think there’s any areas to improve in then it’ll never happen,
