These are my top 5 horror icons of all time.
- Ghostface
- Charles Lee Ray – Chucky
- Michael Myers
- Jason Voorhees
- Billy The Puppet
It’s a rough layout of my initial picks if I were to choose the most iconic names in horror that I could think of.
Horror Icons

Ghostface – Fictional Movie Character (Scream)
Ghostface is just a safe horror icon to go with whenever you make a list of them.
From the movie Scream we got 6 movies already and a television show.
It’s a horror movie that’s self aware and leaves the audience in just as much of a guess as the movie cast starring in it.
It has one look and it’s the Ghostface mask over a black robe.

Weapon of choice being a legitimate buck 120 knife – Ghostface is literally slashing through the opposition
His presence was so much of a force that it even earned him a spot in Mortal Kombat 1.
He has the reputation of being clumsy but is easily still one of the most deadly slashers in all of cinema.
Charles Lee Ray – Chucky (Good Guys Doll)

This person makes my list because of his story and how invested it’s grown to earn in their fanbase.
Charles Lee Ray is the serial killer that’s trapped inside the body of popular Good Guys Doll with the nickname Chucky.

He goes on to have a close tie to the story’s protagonist Andy Barclay.
And for the next few movies we become more familiar with why Chucky has an obsession with Andy.
Michael Myers (Halloween)

Michael Myers is the main face of the Halloween franchise that was started in 1978 via John Carpenter’s cut.
He’s just a troubled youth that has his unfinished areas of trauma left unaddressed.

It lead to several reboots with its latest film Halloween Ends being the final film in the franchise.
Jason Voorhees – Fictional Movie Character (Friday The 13th)

Jason Voorhees is the face of Friday the 13th as a machete-wielding maniac who kills anyone in Camp Crystal Lake.

Part of the popularity in Friday the 13th is the creative play on the date that comes once a year and the setting it takes place in.
As if having a machete isn’t enough – Jason’s story takes place in an abandoned camp ground that’s scattered with deadly tools.
There’s several films with an official reboot that was also made.
It’s done so well that it earned several video game appearances with even having his own game self titled [Friday The 13th]
Billy The Puppet
Billy the puppet isn’t the scariest thing you ever seen but it holds an even deeper meaning if you’ve seen the Saw films.

This puppet served as the face and false voice for Jigsaw – the mystery that even the greatest detectives couldn’t figure out.
Saw is one of the most successful horror franchises ever and earned the title of what I like to call Law and Order on steroids.

It follows and bases its story around a man named John Kramer.
The story had its highs and lows as far as box office earnings are concerned.
Nonetheless it doesn’t take away from the creepiness of Billy The Puppet.
