Why fan art is bad (open discussion)

This is an open discussion on why fan art is bad. Believe it or not – this post is coming from love. I like most of the fan art I come across for the franchises I love. They’re actually pieces that promote hospitality to the creative from a consumer if you ask me.

Why fan art is bad

Fan-art prevents you from showing your creations and ideas.

not being original with your art work

I came across a philosophy I thought was creative.

I agree with wanting to be unique.

The original part’s possible to do though.

What I think’s happening is originality as a term continues to evolve.

Add in the fact that AI is making the grey area of being original even larger.

Final thought

I mentioned being hospitable earlier because that’s more of a perk I believe that comes with creating.

Let me just stress again: remove the objectionable opinion on if the art looks pleasing.

It’s just bad for your own originality at the early stages.

not all content’s the same

Not all the content’s same in terms of value. If you create and are in the starting points of your career then you should definitely focus on putting out original pieces first. Keep in mind that it’s coming from a person that’s rooted in hip-hop. It’s a highly competitive “sport” and like most of them having a good start to a season sets you up for the end much better.
