What Did Changing The Rounds in Boxing do for the Sport?
When they changed the amount of rounds in boxing it decreased the risk of dehydration and exhaustion.
Being hydrated can make the difference between an athlete seeing success and having a bad time.
Boxing is a combat sport that requires energy to be channeled over the course of the most segments in all of sports.
Even when reducing it by 3 rounds.
I’ve wrestled before and see it as competition that’s really close to boxing when compared to several factors:
- Mentality
- weigh ins that have to happen
- An emphasis on nutrition
- 1 v 1 aspect
What does better marketing mean for an industry?
Good marketing expands brand presence and attracts new customers.
It finds and engages your target audience through various channels.
For boxing the marketability increased by having a slightly shorter time frame for competition because it’s easier to put on tv.
There’s a sweet spot that’s constantly being explored when it comes to finding the right amount of time to keep viewer’s attention.
It applies to all of sports that has a commercial presence.
There’s a few objections they have to take in consideration and work on if they wanna maintain then eventually grow the sport.
It may not be as much of a problem for boxing with it being an original Olympic sport but it took the right approach by going commercial.
There’s enough organization to the point where they could get picked up by major networks such as Fox.
It grew to be added on Premium Networks like HBO and Showtime.

The most common type of brain damage that can happen from boxing is CTE.

They say the best kind of cardio for boxers include a mix of shadow boxing and running.
