Why are Cameras Important to Society? (4 Reasons Revealed)

I’ll be explaining why cameras are important to society.

I’m someone that grew up in a time where getting a camera was fairly easy but it started off with traditional film.

Why are Cameras Important to Society?

  • They provide proof
  • They’ve grown to adapt with the world on a digital level
  • The document history
  • They gather criticism

Providing Proof

Cameras provide proof on what exactly happened in a situation.

“Caught you in 4k”

“Pictures or it never happened”

That’s just a couple of the sayings that float around to support the idea behind camera work validating most things.

There’s a movie I watched that resonates well with this concept called The Iron Giant.

A big part of the movie is trying to get proof of an unidentified object that pops up in an area.

A camera was considered a high tech luxury item that was advertised for the purpose of solidifying a memory.

What Makes Digital Cameras Important?

Digital cameras sped up the process it would normally take longer to do when just using film.

We’ve come a long way from having to take pictures and wait for them to develop under a red light in order to get the final piece.

It’s an accepted form but at the same time I think it’s an acquired sight if you grown to like work from both mediums.

Digital cameras don’t take the pictures we love.

Photographers do.

All that means is that there’s techniques and best practices that could be incorporated for a high quality photo.

The original digital cameras actually share the same design that the modern film cameras have.

What Cameras Are Used For Documentaries?

There’s plenty of cameras that used for different purposes.

  • Digital Cinema Cameras
  • DSLR’s
  • Pocket Cameras
  • Traditional Camcorders
  • Phone Cameras

I’ve come across some good recommendations when it comes to a solid camera for documentaries.

A popular that comes up first is the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 6k.

It’s highly competitive with the more expensive options.

Although if you do go with that option it’ll most likely serve you well to grab a few lenses for adding variety to your shot.

The Sony CineAlta T2 Mk II PL Mount Primes seems to be the preferred attachment for them.

So keep that in mind when you’re ready to start your shopping.

Earning Criticism Through Camera Work

Getting busy with a camera is non-verbally asking for the world to critique the things they see.

We’re in a very visual based world where seeing is always believing.

And when displays are made for public consumption it also leaves the door open for criticism.
