Why is 21 Days a Habit? (Explained)

I’ll be explaining why 21 days is a habit.

It’s a common saying that it takes that amount of time to make something permanent.

Why is 21 Days a Habit?

21 Days ended up being a habit because of a book called PsychoCybernetics by Maxwell Maltz.

It makes sense that this quality comes up since wrestling is mentioned throughout the book and it’s a big part of the sport.

Maxwell Maltz and His Connection to Wrestling

Maltz in this book was easy to give a chance with learning from it because of the constant wrestling references.

I’m not talking about the WWE unfortunately but it is one with a World Championship.

Call me bias in admitting I’m someone that’s much quicker to try and see things from a wrestler’s perspective first.

There’s a reason why we’re constantly praised for being the best employees and even businessmen when active.

We’re expected to be incredibly disciplined and it usually shows through our habits.

Habits Wrestlers are Known For

Being a person that wrestled for over a decade built habits I believe are gonna last a lifetime.

Wrestlers are constantly praised and admired for having these qualities in their identities:

  • Looking after health
  • Focus
  • Building powerful networks
  • Embracing failure
  • Being persistent
  • Taking action
  • Staying consistent
How Healthy are Wrestlers

Wrestlers are without a doubt some of the most mentally strong people on earth.

I’d say it’s fair to assume there’s a level of health you need to get stronger at something.

You’ll find the best are also ones that do a lot of positive self-talk.

The Reputation of Being Focused as a Wrestler

I think wrestlers have the reputation of being focused because of how few people they need to focus on.

It’s typically just themselves and maybe their teammates that they’re responsible to focus on.

The Wrestling Community

Wrestlers have some of the closest relationships when they decide to build one.

The best of them share individual and team goals with people they call family.

Habit FAQs

Why is it 21 days to break a habit?

The 21 day timeframe actually doesn’t have anything to do with breaking a habit.

What is the 90 20 rule?

The 90 20 rule’s based off spending 90 minutes focused on a specific task and then following it up with 20-minutes of rest.
