Why is Walking Outside Better Than a Treadmill? (Explained)

I’ll be explaining why walking outside’s better than a treadmill.

Why is Walking Outside Better Than a Treadmill?

Walking outside’s better because there’s lack of wind resistance.

If you choose to walk on the treadmill then I’ll be revealing a good speed you should walk at in order to lose weight.

But if you’re staying outside then I’ll also be sharing the best time you should be walking when you decide to.

Why is there less wind resistance walking outside when compared to a treadmill?

If you’re health-conscious then exercise was probably a point of emphasis and you debated on if an outside run’s better than the treadmill.

It’s important to note that this question’s about human physiology instead of physics.

The energy used to run on both surfaces is the same if wind resistance was removed from the equation.

Air resistance isn’t much of a factor when you compare the walk or run.

We can count on that being true because the form’s the same when running in both environments.

You can see the runner in this clip runs the same way in both scenarios.

As far as comfortability the treadmill’s easier to run on because it’s designed to absorb the impact of your knees much better.

Wind doesn’t impact joints at all.

What is a good speed to walk on a treadmill to lose weight?

Generally speaking the best speed to walk on a treadmill to lose weight’s between 2.5 to 5 miles per hour.

What is the best time to walk?

5pm.

That’s the best time to be walking outside if you choose to do it.

A morning walk helps you burn fat efficiently because your body’s looking breakfast but evening walks burn more calories overall.

This is when it’ll be working it’s hardest to burn the calories you accrued throughout the day when eating.

Final thoughts

So walking outside instead of on a treadmill is better because there’s a lack of wind resistance.

If you choose to do the treadmill instead to lose weight then you’ll wanna keep the speed somewhere around 2.5 to 5 mph.

And if losing weight’s the goal then walking at 5pm is best.
