I’ll be explaining why influencer marketing is bad.
Why is Influencer Marketing Bad?
The downfall of influencer marketing can be credited to several different things.
One area’s misrepresentation and it can happen in multiple areas:
- Themselves
- Areas of expertise
- Business dealings
Misrepresenting Yourself as a Marketer
Misrepresenting yourself as a marketer hurts your credibility as a trustworthy individual with too many consequences that come with it.
Put yourself in a customer’s position.
If you’re someone that has the reputation of not being who you say you are then prospects won’t believe you about your product.
I believe that there’s cases when people may misrepresent themselves on accident.
Especially in the early stages of learning what it takes to make sales on their own.
It could show through vague terms they’ll use and expose their lack of knowledge about their product according to Peter Sandeen.
The best response to prevent that issue though is to embrace the power of the present.
Really taking the time to understand your audience and truthfully answer the things that they want to know about you pays off.
Lying About Being an Expert
Lying about being an expert is a desperate but understandable sin to commit in the marketing community.
It just not needed though.
People think it takes years and popularly 10k hours to pull off but that’s not true.
You could easily become one by simply learning from other experts in the field you wanna be competitive in.
And there’s not a set amount of time it’ll take.
Falsely Advertising Your Business
Falsely advertising your business is one of the things that’s probably least respected by me because it’s just irresponsible.
I don’t have a Facebook anymore just because of all the scamming going on that ruins business.
It’s most commonly done by leading forward with what a few of my affiliates like to call Shiny Object Syndrome.
That’s leading forward with the end reward and displaying the prize in a way that makes it look like everyone is guaranteed to get.
Sometimes you may be accused of doing something unlawful and your actions were in fact legal.
I’ve came across leaders that were put in the same predicament but had to fight for their right to spread the light.
They were accused of violating the Lanham Act which translates to misrepresenting the product that’s promoted according to Justia.
