Why is Showtime on Paramount Plus?
The streaming service is discontinued. SHOWtime shut down their services on April 30th of 2024. You’ll be fine if you already owned a membership though.
What happens when a streaming service is discontinued
According to Marketplace.org when a streaming service gets discontinued shows get checks as long as they have a home.
That includes the actors and crew needed to make the show.
It’s a shame because this phenomenon seemed to hit Millennials the hardest.
With myself being one of them it showed in the likes of a few Cartoon Network shows being unwatchable.
Same goes for a few MTV shows and Comedy Central as well.
Why SHOWTIME shut down
SHOWTIME shut down after the CEO David Nevins made his exit over a year ago to date.
Things were done clean by alerting existing subscribers about the discontinuation.
Not only that but allowing the service to transfer over towards another platform made things even more commendable.

What happens to existing showtime subscription members?
If you’re billed directly from the company or related services then you’ll be able to transfer your account to a Paramount+ subscription.
Why is SHOWTIME no longer available?
It’s because the streaming service shut down its service on April 30th of this year 2024.
Their programs however are still available on Paramount+.
There’s not a guarantee that all of the shows you had on your streaming plan are on the new platform.
It’s one of the things that happen with the purge of a merge.
