Why you should not let Social Media be a bother (Explained)

I’ll be explaining why you shouldn’t let social media be a bother.

Why you should not let Social Media be a bother

Social media shouldn’t be a thing that bothers you because research consistently links the thoughts that support ideas of increased social media use with numerous forms of mental health related issues such as:

  • Increased severe depression
  • Anxiety
  • Fear of missing out

What can increased severe depression lead to?

Increased severe depression can lead to several problems.

The first is self-harm or even death by suicide.

Another problem worth mentioning is drug or alcohol addiction.

  • self-harm/death by suicide: first of all if you’re someone that’s facing this issue currently then call or text 988. Connect with people you trust and focus on expressing your feelings.

Check in with these people and do what you can to prevent self destructive behaviors.

  • Drug/alcohol addiction: Same with the previous advice is to contact 988 if you’re experiencing an immediately serious issue. There’s numerous ways to treat this situations such as behavioral therapy or even medical detoxification. One of the best forms of self-care that you can follow is abstinence.

Consequences

It’s a chronic relapsing disorder that comes about from compulsive drinking.

When you have a drug addiction it could affect your brain to the point where you can’t control your use of legal and illegal drugs.

You can’t be afraid to ask for help if you’re worried about falling into a cycle of destruction.

Reasons why social media causes anxiety

There’s 5 different ways to tell that social media is starting to bring anxiety in your life. The first is fear of missing out which will be discussed in greater detail later. The second is comparison and self-esteem.

The third is feeling restless when not connected.

  • The fourth is noticing changes in your social behaviors. Last is being preoccupied by Social Media. These Social media platforms are designed to be addictive. Users of these sites may experience a common psychological stress response from negative feedback from others. You might better know this as The Comments.

It’s ironic how inventions made to bring us together can make the best of us feel the loneliest we ever been.
