I’ll be explaining how niche is anime.
How niche is anime?
Japanese anime is no longer a niche genre of content.
It’s incredibly mainstream being very easy to access.
From the businesses and merch available in this pocket of entertainment it’s only continuing to grow.
One of their most profitable items are the manga.
The top shows are highly popular but the community could use more ambassadors.
I’m doing my part with a few of my personal favorites and they’re:
- Hunter x Hunter
- Yu Yu Hakusho
- Naruto
- Dragon Ball
Anime isn’t niche
Most fans would agree that anime isn’t niche anymore.
There’s some that would argue otherwise but it’s a feeling I share.
It’s no longer a secret pocket because of its popularity that followed after the releases of their manga.
The fans however are considered niche because there’s just not enough popular advocates of the genre.
It’s always been popular in Japan but its success is global without any signs of stopping.
I like the fact it’s not niche because it felt that way when I was growing up and made me feel like an outcast as a result.
I have a feeling that it’s viewed as niche in America because even though we as a culture like violence it seems different with cartoons.
And as far as manga is concerned it might be seen that way because people don’t seem to like reading.
Sure it’s a comic in totality but it requires people to do it.
There’s some animes that’s considered niche in general though and that’s because there’s always new series that push different limits.

Why anime is easy to access
Anime’s so easy to access because it’s also easy to pirate.
With that comes an opportunity to become mainstream and only get bigger.
And when one anime gets the popularity behind it comes more that’s similar to the originals.
There’s a lot of things that help make these anime so popular:
- Visuals
- Soundtracks
- Storyline
And that’s just to name a few of their highlights.
Some people think they need to understand Japanese to appreciate or even know what’s going on and that’s just not true.
Its realism makes it easy to have an idea of what’s going on if you ask me.
That’s not to say you can’t learn some Japanese if you watch it enough though.
Some anime can be watched without having to read subtitles though.
It all depends on the shows you’re watching to be honest.
Repetition is the game here and if you keep watching them you’ll eventually learn some of the language.
I like it because as much as it is entertaining there’s real life lessons you can learn from these stories.
And one anime I was obsessed with watching actually later on in life I just wanna share for the hell of it is called konjiki no gash bell.
