It’s AJ, and this is my commercialized blog site, where I can share my lifestyle interests and provide thoughtful insights on topics worth discussing.

I’ll be explaining why there’s a stigma for doing things by yourself.

Why is there such a stigma for doing things by yourself?

It’s possible that critics project the way they feel on the person who does things alone.

They might see the person as lacking empathy.

It’s interesting because I’ve even come across people that shared having such an attitude got in the way of past relationships.

I’ve even resonated with the theory of being raised alone contributes to that behavior and it inadvertently impacts how we’re seen by others.

Why people solo shame

People that solo shame have nothing better to do with their lives.

The person being shamed most likely has a fear of judgement that makes them feel bad when they’re doing something alone.

I think it could come from doing something different from what you’re used to and with that scenario brings a feeling of loneliness.

Especially if you don’t have another person to do the action with you.

Another point that’s worth making is that society tells us we’re supposed to be in relationships.

That thought alone suggests we’re not to be doing anything alone.

It’s in multiple forms of media that support the propaganda in group activities.

2 of the most common is literal imagery and social media.

And when nobody else the person who feels lonely can think of has done what they’re doing there has to be loneliness that comes with it.

Why there’s a stigma with doing solo activities

Why the joy of alone time has a stigma

Why more people should do things alone

Why it’s hard to admit when you’re lonely

Final thoughts

Here’s why there’s such a stigma attached to doing things alone:

  • It’s a projection issue with the person being critical
  • The critics feel the “lonely person” lacks empathy

One point that has to be emphasized is the possibility the person being criticized is an introvert.

If you’ve followed my content long enough then you’ll be familiar with my faith in the MBTI tests.

This scenario fits the description perfectly of what all variations of the ‘I’ personality type would do.

So I’d keep that in mind too.
