What does minding my business mean?
Minding your business is not getting involved in someone else’s affairs. When you’re minding your business it means you’re not dividing your attention among things that don’t matter. It’s not being nosy. It really takes extra effort with learning to mind your own business. Deriving from English sayings it explains why it’s so common to hear in countries that speak it. There’s a few variations on how it’s said but ultimately means the same thing.
The meaning of minding your business
Minding your business is asking for the respect of other people’s privacy.
I personally see it as the same concept with practicing the golden rule.
The only difference is that it’s more of a demand when it comes this request.
It’s intentionally putting focus on the things that serve your quality of life and keeps you alive.
With this mindset you’re not asking questions or inquiring about anything that’s not related to your business.
It’s holding onto power by only concentrating on things that are in your control.
Most would think that minding your business is a literal concept to the point where you need a physical business to practice.
That’s not true though.
It applies to everybody in society.
As long as you’re in motion with a game-plan or system then you’ll always have business doing something.
To physically tell someone to mind their business is usually told in a negative manner.
That’s not to say that it could never be said out of love but it’s mainly relayed by a superior to a subordinate.
I’m lucky to have not been told this much in life.
But I’m not surprised if I find myself having to tell others this more often.
