I’ll be explaining why hibachi chefs do tricks.
Why do hibachi chefs do tricks?
Hibachi do tricks as a form of entertainment which includes a practiced routine. Depending on the dish their execution may change. Their food choice is limited most of the time considering that their performance is based around the meal being prepared.
Practiced Routine
The above clip is a reference to what the final product ends up being at your favorite hibachi restaurant.
As far as their routine physically it always includes spatulas and fire.
Specifically speaking the chefs will always:
- Flip an egg into their hat
- Slice up onions to make a train
- Flip food in the mouth of the guests
Depending on if you have a newer chef they might even come up with their own ideas when it comes to their routine.
Other than that the moves mentioned earlier can expected from any hibachi grill.
Limited food choice
The food choice is limited so the performance is typical most of the time.
There’s usually a choice between 4 main entrees so that makes the performance aspect of the chef’s job much easier.
The foods they’ll typically prepare are:
- Steak/Filet Mignon
- Chicken
- Scallops or Lobster tail
From there there’s appetizer and complimentary dishes such as:
- rice
- Salad
- Soup
- Sushi
All of the main dishes are the only things that need the chef’s assistance to prepare.
The others are premade.
Final thoughts
I’ve been a fanatic of hibachi for ever since I was aware of my existence.
I’ve never had a bad experience at restaurants that provide it.
And I’m pretty sure it’s played a role in my appreciation for Asian culture in general.
The first Japanese series I ever followed was Dragon Ball.
And if you ask I strongly believe I gave it so well of a chance because of the food I grew to love.
I’m always looking forward to the next time I’m able to eat at my favorite hibachi restaurant.
Until next time.
