Why I rap (my thoughts)

I’ll be discussing why I rap.

Rapping is the craft that’s highly popular in the hip hop community.

I’ve been musically inclined for as long as I could remember but started a little while after college seriously.

It took me coming back to where I grew up and seeing how things changed from how I remembered it to inspire me.

So now I’m gonna write about my reasons for getting into rap.

Why I rap

These are the reasons I rap:

  • It’s a healthy outlet for expression
  • It has one of the most creative business models you can participate in
  • I have goals to travel and do shows in new areas with the music I create
  • There’s plenty of money to be made

What are healthy ways to express emotions?

  • Drawing
  • Gratitude lists
  • Punching pillows
  • Screaming
  • Letting yourself cry
  • Rip paper in tiny pieces
  • Vent

The best ways to express yourself is by first processing your feelings

I say that because there’s an enormous amount of people that feel things they don’t understand what it is.

Those are all reasonable forms of expression but because none of them are ideal for myself personally that’s actually how music became my answer.

All forms of expression to me falls under the category of speech.

That’s actually why as I progressed in my rap career I appreciate the Freedom of Speech even more.

It comes to me as being a form of communication (or better yet an art) that our founding fathers saw as necessary.

I’m just choosing to embrace it.

Why does Rap have such a creative business model?

Rap has such a creative business model because it relates and thrives best off a Get It Out The Mud mentality.

I personally think it depends on the intelligence of the artist matching the product to have longevity.

There’s more to it that’s beyond my current understanding but also having it be commercialized plays a role.

At the end of the day what it does is create entrepreneurs. An unregulated industry for the most part where figuring out the system is half the game.

It’s interesting to say the least when I reflect on it and come to notice that most traditional principles of success become irrelevant when applied to having a successful rap career.

How do musicians travel on tour?

Rappers and musicians in general travel on bus when they go on tours.

I apply it to my life and could realistically see that being part of my lifestyle.

Of course I would have it sections to fill out a calendar year but I got what it takes!

Because it takes a team to make everything happen I’d be sure to treat everyone on board as valuable as what they are to the entire production.

There’s managers, agents, promoters, and even technicians that’ll make a difference in where we go.

That’s why I would prefer to have teammates that are flexible and believe in what we’re doing so they’ll go the extra mile with securing locations to perform at that are worthwhile.

Why does the music industry make so much money?

The music industry makes so money going back to my previous point with allowing to go commercial, specifically with rap.

They were to pump these benefits in to make it worth the time of the artist that chose to sign a record deal:

  • Streaming royalties
  • Sync deals in media
  • Merchandise sales
  • Brand endorsements

It’s worth adding that a lot of these perks evolved to be included for the independent artist as well.

The main difference is signing for the convenience of having someone serve you that understands these things already.
