Welcome to my ultimate Cartoon Network time capsule.
I’ll be using this post to organize a few of my favorite Cartoon Network shows, mainly the ones from the 90s.
What Cartoon Network meant to my childhood growing up
It made watching TV mandatory for myself and my inner circle.
It felt that way because of how wide of range they provided for the viewers.
It was a reliable network that consistently brought new episodes and shows to the table.
Not only that but when different shows would come on we would wanna give them a shot.
Sometimes we liked them which was kind of rare for how one-track minded I considered myself to be when it came to “I like what I like already”.
What I’m trying to say is they kept me open minded for the better.
What were CN’s competitors?
As far as networks that were competing with Cartoon Network at the time there were only 2:
- Nickelodeon
- Disney Channel
I mention both of these because they were the only channels that had shows anything close to what Cartoon Network would air.
I would sometimes flip between these 2 channels and usually watch a specific show and go back to CN.
That would be the level of predictability when it came to what I’d watch on tv.
Keep in mind I would be somewhere around 9 until about a teenager where I would have this schedule.
It got pretty good having something to look forward to daily.
I’d mainly go to each channel for their cartoons specifically, and that could’ve played a role in why CN was top dawg for me, most of their shows were cartoons.
The other two had mixes of sitcoms as well so I wouldn’t be on there as much, call it me not wanting to grow up but that’s what it was.
Now with the shows I would watch on Cartoon Network, let me introduce you to my favorite.
