Why did YuGiOh lose popularity? (Explained)

I’ll be explaining why yugioh lost popularity.

Why did YuGiOh lose popularity?

YuGiOh lost popularity and repeatedly does at times because that’s how trends work. They also have a ban list that gets updated and it could possibly impact the popularity as well.

It’s a trend that changes at times

the ban list of yugioh cards might hold the game back

It’s actually a surprise to me because I’ve been hearing a few mentions of the card game in music.

To be fair I liked it when it first was getting introduced to the states.

I fell off with it going into high school but found my way back to it after downloading Master Duel and buying a few card packs recently.

But let’s get into why it appears to be declining.

Are there too many yugioh cards?

Yeah.

The problem with them is the same thing that can be the downfall of anything great that comes in excess:

Too many options!

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying “too much of a good thing could still be bad for you”.

I see it as one of the most popularly interactive card games around.

It had a point where it was loved across the world but since then had a decline for the most part.

Having too many choices makes it hard to ever commit, and this comes from someone that likes options.

We never say it’s a problem for Pokemon, Dragonball, Naruto or anything else that you would collect.

This game though has so many counters and tactics that could be applied when playing it’s ridiculous.

A comment via Reddit thread made a comparison to golf I thought hit the mark.

Okay there was a pun that fit perfectly with that example but it’s true.

If you can condense a 40 card deck based off an archetype with a variety of relating cards you’re looking good.

A general gist of your goal is getting to your best cards as fast as possible, and there’s cards to make it happen.
