I’ll be sharing what skills you get from reading.
Depending on where you’re from you might have to read more than others or you might be closer to me and teach yourself to do so.
We’re gonna understand the benefits you get from reading.
Let’s start here.
What skills do you get from reading
There’s the benefit of improved vocabulary, lowers stress, understand sentences better, boosts communication skills. And one of my personal favorites of higher concentration. You can count on reading increasing your value. No matter what it is.
Better vocabulary
Scholastic claim that reading builds vocabulary at every age.
You know why though?
It’s cuz the words make sense within the context they’re being used which’ll most likely be used again in the future.
The more you expand your vocab the easier it’ll be to understand the message being shared.
You’ll learn words and terms that are exclusive to whatever that topic’s about and move further along the learning process with that knowledge.
The stress that’s lowered
Reading takes you to another place as you follow along.
It’s a healthy distractor from the traps of stress.
From a physical standpoint it biologically lowers your heart rate and reduces tension in the muscles.
Most would consider this hobby a natural method of relaxation.
Understand sentences better
Medium suggests when you add new vocabulary words it improves your grammar overall and introduces consistent scenarios where they’re used outside of everyday situations.
It’s exercised effectively through its constant repetition.
Actually it’s why most stories are better for learning new words over the dictionary.
Imagine understanding what someone’s talking about based off one word that’s used in the middle of a sentence.
This benefit is highly underrated.
It can double your efforts if you continue to make repetition the goal.
Higher concentration
Being a highly concentrated individual means that you have a lot of substance despite your mass.
Breaking it down to a philosophical lens it’s expanding your ability to create with your point of reference being how you were thinking before.
It’s a limitless net that expands the more you read.
It creates separation from others that go without reading.
Same as when you go to the gym in order to get stronger and build muscle you can expand your creativity.
There’s plenty of activities that can be done to expand creativity.
Some of my favorites were puzzles and building model sets.
Boosting communication skills
Increasing your vocabulary can be the single greatest thing that you can contribute to a conversation.
It has to come natural in ways that you’ve expressed a thought about that topic before.
As you continue to read you’ll gain new perspectives where it keeps you open minded.
Communication at its finest is being able to respectfully talk amongst other perspectives in a civil manner.
