What does a Philosopher do? (3 Skills Revealed)

I’ll be sharing what a philosopher does.

This might be a boring topic to most off rip but I promise there’s more to it than meets the eye.

We’re gonna get more into depth about philosophy here and what to expect from yourself if you are or know of one.

What does a Philosopher do?

A philosopher does the following:

  • develop excellent writing skills
  • Increases speaking skills
  • Works on their thinking skills

How does a philosopher use thinking skills?

A philosopher uses their thinking skills when they’re constructing and deconstructing arguments.

It could be argued that philosophy directly teaches critical thinking skills as well.

You should study philosophy because you ask the right questions and earn this quality as a direct result.

There’s an openness or (maybe better put) open mindedness that has to be kept in mind when practicing this study.

The studies prove that critical thinking and philosophy are related:

Reasoning Lab has 113 pages worth of information on critical thinking’s impact on philosophy.

If there’s a main takeaway I’d like for you to take about the value of critical thinking is that it’s the most desired trait on any team.

Critical thinking compliments philosophy so well because of the calmness and amount of rationale you need to be effective.

It’s discovering truth in its most creative way.

Why are philosophers good speakers?

It’s because philosophers can be precise, appear logical and keep a formal tone in unison.

Philosophy’s important for public speaking because humans want to naturally question the nature of our existence.

They speak in sophisticated languages that’s sometimes hard to understand.

That comes with the territory though because most of the time they’re speaking on complex topics.

There’s a single trait that’s believed to be shared between philosophers and famous motivational speakers:

  • Their desire to question things to improve life for everybody

One of the most famous philosophers is Aristotle.

But if applied to politics, do you think this trait’s exclusive to liberals?

I tend to find most liberals that’s well received by the public are some of the most educated people.

Why do philosophers read so much?

Philosophers read so much because it functions as a meta-reset (I like to call it) where the action of reading is secondary to your real beliefs.

Fighting for your confidence in what you truly believe is philosophy to its core.

That alone SHOULD be why you care.

Why does philosophy matter?

Philosophy teaches us through exploration of answers relating to existence, knowledge, ethics and reality in general.

I personally care for it because the ability to separate opinions from facts gets you to the best parts of life easiest.

Your philosophy shapes how you learn exactly…

All of our basic things that we’re taught since youth is usually taught through our parents and it either carries on into adulthood or we shape our own.

Why do philosophers write so much?

Philosophers write so much because same as with any other profession, clarity helps most situations.

It gets skewed (the message) when they speak overly complicated…

So that’s using words they barely know.

Why do many philosophers write in an overly complicated way?

It’s looking for validation…

Most people who claim to be philosophers are still trying to prove themselves so it’s to create a face.

Final thoughts

There’s a lot of upgrades that happen when you get a grasp on what philosophy is at its core.

You’ll understand yourself better, the people around you and the people you’ll meet in the future.

I started getting a much better grasp on my beliefs that could be viewed as philosophical as I connected with members from the Wealthy Affiliate community.
