I’ll be sharing a few of my favorite sports to watch.
I’m sure I mentioned at some point on my about page that I was a former wrestler.
I intended on having a specific page for that sport but I’ve been finding myself keeping up with other sports too now.
Nonetheless it won’t stop me from discussing some of these sports.
Let’s get to my picks.
A Few Of My Favorite Sports To Watch
- Folkstyle
- Football
- Baseball
- Freestyle wrestling
- Basketball
- Track and field
That’s only to name a few. I’m pretty casual when it comes to fandom for another team. Maybe except the Cubs and a couple program dynasties in college. The sports are fun to watch when you make sense of the action.
Wrestling Folkstyle
Folkstyle wrestling introduces the concept of top and bottom action in order to include an element of competition to the sport.
The wrestler that can secure the other with what’s called “a ride” and is rewarded with a riding time point.
That’s in college but it’s a very important part of wrestling as it’s determined the winner of many championship matches.
Although the rules are slightly different for high school in where there’s not a riding time point given for control top is still important.
There’s numerous tournaments that’s important to the spirit of competition for this style of wrestling.
Ironman, Dvorak, Powerade, State, CKLV, Midlands, Southern Scuffle, conferences, NCAAs.
The point is there’s a lot of tough tournaments in folkstyle wrestling.
Adding on to the emphasis of control in the top position there’s also the ability to score with holding back exposure.
Holding anywhere from 2 second to a 5 count can determine if you earn either 2 points or 4.
This type of grit makes folkstyle beloved by the fans that support.
Sometimes there’s a battle within the sport and having to get better in a specific area can make the hunt for the championship interesting.
In this case becoming a better wrestler on top makes the story easier to follow.
You can have a chance to win based off of something other than a takedown.
