I’ll be explaining what Kingdom Hearts is through 8 pieces of collectibles I think tell the tale.
What is Kingdom Hearts explained simply?
Kingdom Hearts tells the story of Sora. He goes on a series of missions with Donald and Goofy, The King’s assistants. Sora finds out he’s worthy of wielding a weapon called the Keyblade. Together they defeat an enemy called the Heartless.
Kingdom Hearts: Sora’s Story
Since a young boy Sora was tied into a Keyblade warrior known as Ventus.
If you’re remember my earlier post on Re:Chain of Memories then you’ll understand how important it is.
It completes Sora’s story up until KH2.
I found a clip on YouTube that explains Sora’s backstory well:
You’ll learn quickly how impactful Sora is to the entire story.
He lives in a place called Destiny Island with his friends Riku

And

Kairi.
Sora’s surprised when he finds out that he’s able to use what’s called a Keyblade.

As Sora becomes more skilled in his use of the Keyblade they earn custom features.
There’s some iconic Keyblades that were synthesized.
The most popular was

Oathkeeper and

Oblivion.
Why is Donald and Goofy in Kingdom Hearts?
They serve as Sora’s friends.

Apparently King Mickey

was meant to be the main character but was later replaced by Sora.
The writers kept them both as supporting characters to a more agile and acrobatic fighter.
Donald and Goofy match the environment of the other worlds you travel, same as Sora.
King Mickey’s role in Kingdom Hearts
King Mickey a Keyblade master that plays a role in each game.
Also Queen Minnie’s husband, discovers and helps protect the Disney castle from the Heartless.

The Kingdom Hearts Universe
The Heartless poses a threat to anybody with a heart.
They seek to consume all, including those of other worlds.
They’re black expressionless creatures with beady yellow eyes.
Depending on the strength of the Heartless determines its size and abilities.
Final thoughts
Kingdom Hearts was an instant classic and I had that feeling ever since the first game released.
There’s a lasting impression the game leaves on both anime enthusiasts and Disney fanatics.
Obviously they’ve upped the ante by providing numerous collectibles to show allegiance to the franchise.

I’m a fan of the entire brand and appreciate what it did for my childhood as well as the future gens.
