I’ll be answering why people like to share their personal lives on the internet.
It’s gotten tricky over the years because now the secret’s out about how sharing stories about your personal life is good for business.
Why do people like to share their personal lives on the Internet
Most people like to share their personal lives on the internet for a few different reasons, but they’re also pretty typical. It could be for popularity. Maybe it’s to share a story they want to tell. And then again it could be just to make more friends. It really depends on the generation because Z (as well as future generations) were raised on the internet.
To be popular
Sharing your personal stories is a big way to gain popularity on the internet.
There’s viral moments that people want to see and whoever can produce that consistently usually becomes the popular person that most end up looking for.
You have to understand that because the internet is one of the fastest ways to spread a story it also becomes one of the ways that people become famous literally overnight.
There’s a transparency factor that serves well for almost any online platform’s algorithm.
To simply put it, if you’re okay with sharing it online it makes you an even better candidate for becoming an online icon.
Telling a story through content
A lot of people share personal stories in their life because the content serves as the catalyst to communicate and for most it’s all that they have.
Gary Vee has a book called Jab Jab Jab Right Hook that I reviewed which effectively explains how to tell your story in a digital world.
Check it out sometime.
But if I had to share an analogy on how content is being used (and maybe how it should be seen) is a bunch of little puzzle pieces that make one big picture.
Hence, that’s why a lot of people see themselves as artists with these platforms when they try to make their photos look a little nicer or take extra thought into the music they choose to add with whatever they’re getting ready to post.
That’s my 2 cents.
