I’ll be answering why Broly’s appearance changes.
This applies to both DragonBall Z and DragonBall Super.
There’s plenty of looks that we can look at when it comes to the way he’s changed throughout the duration of the series.
We’re gonna try to break down how Broly’s appearance has changed and if it was a good mood.
Without dwelling on this for too long let’s move on to the question.
Why did Broly’s appearance change
Broly’s appearance changed throughout all of his moments of animations for a couple different reasons. For starters, he was rebooted. Also he had different artists that created him for Z and Super. With that change came a shift in hair color and face morphs.
I personally think a big reason for this change was because in one version Broly’s painted as a warrior while the other was a king.
Z Broly vs. Super Broly
When you look at DBZ Broly he was on another planet that he was looked at as a ruler if I remember it correctly.
He had servants and everything which explains why he didn’t have a scar on his face the same as the Super version of Broly that we’re given.
That Broly was painted to be a savage from birth.
It had flashbacks of when he had to hunt for himself and his father when they were “roughing it” on distant planets before running into Frieza.
Final thoughts
There’s pretty solid points we can trace back to if we’re gonna sum this up.
Let’s revisit them again:
- A reboot
- Different animators for canon and non-canon Broly
- His painting as a king and a warrior
Both Brolys had similar experiences but they didn’t have much of the hatred for Goku in common.
Other than that he’s a cool addition and I’m grateful that they’ll be able to do more with him on the side of good at this point.
