Why is Black Tea better than coffee? (Explained)

I’ll be making my case for the question why is black tea better than coffee.

I’m a big tea drinker in general and lately black tea’s been my beverage of choice lately.

Why is black tea better than coffee?

Tea contains an amino acid called L-theanine. This amino acid promotes the fast release of caffeine which leads to a more sustained and even energy boost. And although it’s known to give you some caffeine it tends to be way less than coffee making it the better choice of the 2. That, and it lowers cholesterol.

Health Benefits of Tea

  • Immune System Booster
  • Fights inflammation
  • Helps prevent some cancers and heart diseases

These are only a few of the things that tea can do for the body.

What if I told you that there’s antioxidants in even green tea that helps neutralize free radicals, because it’s true.

There’s even studies that suggest certain teas help prevent the buildup of plaque in the arteries which could lead to heart attacks.

Cons of black tea

There’s some things that could affect you negatively when talking about black tea though.

A few of those things could be:

  • Anxiety and difficulty sleeping
  • Faster breathing
  • Headache
  • Increased urination
  • Irregular heartbeat

Tea in general has also been known to affect iron absorption and the levels depend on the type you choose to drink.

Studies show green tea can reduce your ability to absorb by 30% and black by 60.

Final thoughts

Regardless of the studies I’m still somebody who loves drinking tea.

You can choose either and I believe it still comes back to doing whatever you indulge in to moderation.

I’m willing to argue that it even comes down to the type of water you use when drinking, especially if you subscribe to the belief that not all water is the same.
