Why podcasts are better than video (The real reason)

I’ll be sharing my argument for why podcasts are better than video.

I was going strong with this belief for a while, ever since I started following different podcasts but fell astray you could say once a few of my favorites started offering video versions of their productions.

I’m on the side of anybody who strives toward using their voice through any medium.

If it’s audio, video, text or any form of media then I support you (at least in spirit).

But why would I make this claim you may ask.

Well follow along and I’ll explain.

Why podcasts are better than video

Podcasts give more value to the consumer for numerous reasons.

  • They’re less complicated to produce
  • They teach more information than what you would get through video
  • You only have to listen rather than having to watch

Videos can be more popular but a slept on benefit about audio podcasts are how they allow you to apply what you’re learning in real time.

Why do people prefer podcasts?

This is the case because they have the expectation to learn something.

The Podcast Host has a nice breakdown of 5 different reasons why people prefer this way of learning stating:

  • The content’s easy to get
  • You can listen to what you want
  • It allows you to multi-task freely
  • They build intimacy
  • They provide instant community

It should go without saying but people are using podcasts now for more than learning.

It’s also being used for entertainment and therapy.

What are the benefits of watching podcasts?

Even though listening is what’s being claimed as the best way to consume there’s still a long list of benefits that watching podcasts can bring too.

If you’re focused on a specific niche in the internet and the people you’re watching are experts then you can get even closer to learning the lifestyle and minor details for being closer to any industry, it can include:

  • Finance
  • Health care
  • Marketing
  • Fitness

You get to learn more about their mannerisms, the type of environment they like to operate out of, and much more.

Why are podcasts so impactful?

According to MailChimp they make the claim that podcasts help people learn more about a topic, stay up to date with current events and laugh.

That sums up what usually makes for a productive day and if we can have our lives influenced off a simple 1-2 hour discussion it has to have tremendous impact.

The popularity of the podcast industry’s only skyrocketed since the assistance of exposure on global brands such as Spotify and YouTube.

Because we as a people are constantly looking for ways to increase efficiency it only makes sense that a podcast would compliment the life of someone claims they want that for themself.
