This is gonna be yet another look that we’re gonna take into the Chucky dolls.

I’ve made a couple of these already but none that I’m 100% proud of yet.

So this should function as the introduction to Chucky for anyone that’s new to the franchise.

Is The Chucky doll Based on a true story?

Chucky’s actually a character that pays homage to a real life story.

The Child’s Play franchise star is actually based off the character Robert the doll.

Although the claim was never officially confirmed by the creator Don Mancini, Robert came much earlier than Chucky.

So we can really say that Robert the Doll was father of all killer dolls if we go by that logic.

But if we apply it to the actual story then Chucky we know as the doll comes from the (movie real) story of Charles’s Lee Ray.

Was the Chucky Doll a real toy?

I first thought the answer was “no” but there was a detailed answer that somebody else gave on Quora.

To sum it up they answer this same question sharing that there was a doll released shortly before the first movie called “My Buddy”.

The Good Guy doll itself was never released officially as a marketed toy despite after the movie was released there were official Good Guy dolls that were made in honor of the movie.

So for me that’s where there’s a difference.

Is Chucky a voodoo doll?

Chucky is not a voodoo doll, he’s a Good Guy doll that has the soul of a serial killer stuck inside him from a voodoo ritual.

The serial killer Charles Lee Ray learned his voodoo ritual from the witch doctor John that we meet in the first Child’s Play.

Actually, the only voodoo doll that we see in all of Child’s Play was John’s.

Chucky uses his own doll against him and kills him by stabbing the doll after he gets the info he wants.

What turned Chucky evil?

Does Chucky deserve to be called evil because he’s a killer?

This actually deserves a multi layered answer in where Chucky the doll was evil because it had the soul of a killer stuck inside him.

If we break it down to where the motivations of Charles is observed it’s pretty sketchy and boils down to just having sadistic thoughts he acted on.

There were a couple points in the past where we get breadcrumbs about Chucky’s evil moments:

• Being “betrayed” by Nica’s mother and getting the cops called on him when trapping her in a basement
• He had an obsession with blood and violence that was exposed during his youth in Season 2 of Chucky
