Welcome to my Smoker’s guide.
This is fun for me to do because it’s something that I enjoy to do often.
Wow, that sounds like hype behavior but you can make that argument for anything that people absolutely love doing.
Either way, this guide should function as something that can inform you one way or another.
I’ll be answering general questions and look to add on here as I see fit.
If you feel some type of way about what’s said be sure to leave a comment and I might get back to you.
But, without any more time to waste let’s move forward.
What’s cannabis smoking?
I’ve said it in my earlier post life in California where I mentioned my appreciation for being able to smoke good weed.
WebMD expands on the effects claiming it irritates your lungs, asking for problems.
The National Institute on Drug Abuse and CDC speaks on the ways you can smoke mentioning joints, bowls and bongs.
American Lung Association takes a route that explores the consequences saying it’s harmful to lung health regardless of how you smoke it.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration speaks generally and says there’s risks involved with use.
Talk to Frank says cannabis is a plant-based drug that can be smoked, vaped or even eaten.
KidsHealth breaks it down to a science adding what the major ingredient is in cannabis (being THC).
Even Wikipedia has something to share by mentioning how it’s meant to be inhaled and the benefit pursued is a psychedelic experience.
Harm Reduction Journal might have the best point in saying that cannabis and tobacco have different risks involved which breaks down to meaning one can be more harmful than the other.
Who should be smoking?
Smoking should first of all be reserved for people who can afford the habit.
The Surgeon General only advises people who are 18 and older to participate.
Depending on what you’re smoking it makes a difference in what the desired result should be.
Smoking is for people who needs to calm their nerves, trying to change the taste of whatever they were experiencing beforehand or who has their priorities in order.
That might sound a little extreme but I get mixed emotions when it comes to this topic because there’s cases when someone’s a good person and decides to smoke but because someone makes the habit look worse than what it is then it makes everybody bad (in general) who does it too.
I’m someone who prefers to smoke because it grew on me really.
A few of my friends did it and I ended up doing it too.
But as I started trying different products I built up an appreciation for specific ones and it helped me develop personal preferences.
What are the different products you can smoke?
There’s numerous products that you can smoke.
I’ll be lying if I call myself an expert but there’s been plenty of products that I have tried to be able to speak comfortably on the topic.
A few of the most popular things to smoke is:
- Weed
- Tobacco
- CBD
- Pure Nicotine
Weed
This is a product that’s only available in certain states so you should only consider smoking it if it’s legal in your area.
It does things that help create a psychedelic effect with a combination of either energy or tiredness.
Tobacco
This is one of the first commercialized products that’s used in cigarettes, cigars and smokeless products.
CBD
This is what I’ve heard somewhere called diet weed and I couldn’t agree more.
It’s legal in all 50 states and has some of the same effects weed does without the high that can be uncomfortable for the less experienced smokers.
It also has plenty of medical benefits that justify its sale.
Those are all of the legal things that I feel like discussing and that I can say I’ve smoked.
They’re all popular for different reasons but they also went on to inspire relating products:
- Brownies
- Cookies
- Gummies
- Vapes
- Bowls
- Bongs
Brownies
They makes these out of both weed and CBD.
I’ve tried both and they usually taste amazing.
Cookies
I’ve never had these but they have some of the coolest product packages and present them well.
Gummies
These are another type of edible that are popular.
It’s one of the best options if you prefer something sweet or sour with a calming effect most of the time.
Vapes
These things are pretty new in the game when it comes to smoking but they’re pretty popular.
I had a moment in where I had a bunch but stopped because they weren’t doing much for me besides irritating my throat if I stopped using them for a little while.
Bowls
These were some of my beginning tools that I would use to smoke with my flower but I stopped using the ones I bought too.
Call me superstitious but most of the experiences I had with them were with people I could care less to be around.
Maybe it’s a triggering piece, but who knows.
Bongs
These are actually pretty fun to smoke for me and there’s some cool pieces but they can get pretty expensive.
That, and they can get dirty pretty easy so for the most part I stick to wraps.
Where can I get the best smoking products?
There’s actually a lot of shops in my hometown and even the area I stay at now.
You can grab local in an area near you or even through an online store of some sort.
My site of choice that actually has a physical location is Midwest CBD.
I’m starting off with that type of shop since it’ll be best to recommend proudly areas and items that are 100% legal for wherever they’re bought or shipped.
Apply it easily to wherever you stay and use your best judgement to find reliable spots to satisfy your craving.
I guess you can even look for a tobacco shop if you prefer smoking materials.
A good rule of thumb to use is if it’s able to be used with tobacco then it can work well for any other type of material close to it.
It works Vice-Versa as well to the point where if you can smoke from a vape, use weed or CBD in the product then it’s safe for tobacco as well.
Just find a smoke shop and you’ll be fine.
How does smoking affect me?
This isn’t mean to be a moral lecture in how you should live your life but it would make sense to say least look at facts when it comes to what smoking does for you.
As you can see the main risk you take with smoking (at least tobacco) is the chance of having heart diseases.
It compounds when you add in children because it makes them more likely to get secondhand smoking related symptoms.
It’s actually a few that I’m fighting as I’m working on quitting tobacco.
It’s tough to write this section because I actually like smoking and what it can do.
Sometimes it can be a fun activity to do socially (although I usually prefer to smoke alone).
Everybody has their own reasons for why they do it but another reason that I do and why most probably would is the oral fixation.
I try to use it in a balance to offset cravings I’ll get of hunger at times when I feel it’s an inappropriate time to eat.
Again, that’s another story but we’ll come back to it another time.
Why is smoking addictive?
Nicotine is the main reason for why smoking’s so addictive.
What that does is release a chemical in the brain called dopamine which makes us feel good.
Even if we reflect on a few examples that I shared when I was first smoking, it could just be something you do but it can be associated with good times that you share or had.
An example is when I had a bar that I paint a vivid picture of what’s a good time for me.
Maybe that was a shameless plug, but it still mentions some of the things that’s on my mind and that’s where I take you to a place that made the experience fun for me.
I got high with a girl I thought I liked and since I got over her I stuck with the activities I enjoyed except her.
The addictive part from a scientific perspective can also be since we tend to smoke in backwoods they had a little tobacco added so it could’ve played a role.
And maybe I’m reaching, but again, who knows?
